Months ago, I was tasked to take on a story about the life of a funeral director. While planning for the story, I came across this saying: Most of us would daydream and plan for our wedding even if it never happens. But not many of us would plan for our funeral even though death is certain.
And death doesn't have a timing.
When I first heard the song Goodness of God, I was busy serving in church trying to capture the worship moments. But the song was so powerful that I looked it up as I was heading home. Reading the lyrics fully for the first time, I thought to myself if I had a funeral service, this would be what I want the band to be playing.
I love You, Lord
For Your mercy never failed me
All my days, I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God
To me, this song is the declaration of God's goodness from the start to the end; from the first breath of life to life's last breath. And I don't know about you, but there are certain songs that I'm exceptionally drawn to – songs that paints the ideal picture of my final scene of life.
Take 10,000 Reasons for example. The reason why that song means so much to me is purely because of verse 3. When the end draws near and my time has come, I want my final words to be filled with nothing but praises of God.
With my life laid down
I'm surrendered now
I give You everything
'Cause Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
But you know what I like most about Goodness of God? The bridge. If anything, I can't help to deny how God has pursued me over the years. Even when I turned away from the people He sent, even when I conspired to run away from the church, He never gave up on me.
And just like how He has chased me in this lifetime, I believe He will continue to chase me in the afterlife. And because I believe He will come and take me home, I am not scared to lay my life down. I am not afraid of death.
I love Before The Throne Of God Above too. It talks about the confidence that nothing – not even death – can separate us from God. And as I'm writing this during suicide prevention week, together with receiving news of yet another pastor committing suicide, this topic has been on my mind.
I've never been suicidal and I can't say I understand why suicidal is such a real and large issue in society, but reading accounts and testimonies of people who came out with their stories have helped me to comprehend their perspectives a little.
I can't seem find the article now, but in it the writer wrote about his personal experiences on battling with suicidal tendencies. One of the most impactful point I read: Unlike the usual narrative of "How could they choose to take the easy way out and leave their loved ones behind?", people who commit suicide weren't trying to be selfish. In their own way of thinking, they thought that they were being selfless because they truly felt that their loved ones would be better off without them.
Depression and suicide are huge and complex issues. I'm still struggling to understand who, why, what, how, but if anything, I feel as though this song was written as an anthem for anyone who have struggled with death thoughts and succumbed to them.
As long as we choose to call upon the name of Jesus, our names will be written on His hands; we will never truly die.
And I hope this is something people will take away from my funeral service.
I cannot believe that my last post was dated 2 months ago. Seriously, where did all the time go? It's scary how busy life can get. You know how, to maximise time, some people will do their work-unrelated stuff while commuting? Like catch up on texts or settle ministry stuff or do daily reflections etc? I used to be like that. But recently, I've come to a point where I'm so drained that I don't want to use my brain cells at all during my precious break time. So everything else just piled up and soon, I have a long to-do list. Which is very uncharacteristic of me because I'm the kind of person who will find the most efficient way to do things.
I had a day off to myself yesterday to just be a recluse and I came to a conclusion that I need to take leave every now and then to keep myself sane. It really feels good to simply disconnect from the world for 24 hours and simply hole up at home. And now I have the energy to reply messages and work on my backlog haha. I think instead of saving my leaves for travelling, I'm going to schedule leaves for personal time-off and then arrange a holiday with whatever's left.
To all who have yet entered the working force, let me tell you that work can suck so much energy from you so always remember to recharge yourself by plugging back to God. Like really spend quality time with Him. You'll need it.
And the highlight for the past few months definitely has to be meeting Hillsong Young and Free! I mean, I don't advocate idolising worship bands but you really have to give it to Hillsong for consistently topping themselves, breaking new grounds and pushing Christianity to the limelight for the world to see.
Oh Lord, you're beautiful,
Your face is all I see,
For when your eyes are on this child
Your grace abounds to me
I want to take your word and shine it all around
But first help me to just, live it Lord
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown
For my reward is giving glory to you
Oh Lord, please light the fire
That once burned bright and clean
Replace the lamp of my first love
That burned with holy fear
One of my favourite song presented at Hillsong Creative Conference finally got released! If I remember correctly, the husband wrote this song for his wife who suffered from depression.
I was moved to tears that day when she presented this song. It's the first worship song I know that was written for people who suffer from mental illness. I can't imagine how much this means to sufferers of mental illnesses to see a Church coming forth to stand by them and give them a voice. This one song along speaks so much volume.
I think the most beautiful thing about this song is the heart behind it. You know, from the moment you listen to it, that this song isn't fluff. It's written from deep wells of experience for people who need encouragement. So genuine and so beautiful.
Hope this blesses you, wherever you are (it's on repeat on my Spotify haha)
You will stay true Even when the lies come Your Word remains truth Even when my thoughts don’t line up I will stand tall on each promise you made, Let the rest fade away
There's a peace far beyond all understanding May it ever set my heart at ease Dare anxiety come I'll remember That Peace is a promise You keep Peace is a promise You keep
You will stay true Even in the chaos Your Word remains truth Even when my mind wreaks havoc I will be still for I’ve known all along My Jehovah Shalom
There's a peace far beyond all understanding May it ever set my heart at ease What anxiety fails to remember Is Peace is a promise You keep Peace is a promise You keep
Peace to a restless soul Peace when my thoughts wage war Peace to the anxious heart Peace when I feel enclosed Peace when I lose control Peace when my fear takes hold Peace to a restless soul
I've found peace far beyond all understanding Let it flow when my minds under siege All anxiety bows in the presence Of Jesus the Keeper of Peace And peace is a promise He keeps
What can I do with my obsession? With the things I cannot see Is it madness in my being? Is it wind that blows the trees? Sometimes you're further than the moon Sometimes you're closer than my skin And you surround me like a winter fog You've come and burned me with a kiss And my heart burns for you And my heart burns
God of creation
There at the start
Before the beginning of time
With no point of reference
You spoke to the dark
And fleshed out the wonder of light
And as You speak
A hundred billion galaxies are born
In the vapor of Your breath the planets form
If the stars were made to worship so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You’ve made
Every burning star a signal fire of grace
If creation sings Your praises so will I
God of Your promise
You don’t speak in vain
No syllable empty or void
For once You have spoken
All nature and science
Follow the sound of Your voice
And as You speak
A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath
Evolving in pursuit of what You said
If it all reveals Your nature so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You say
Every painted sky
A canvas of Your grace
If creation still obeys You so will I
So will I
So will I
If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I
If the wind goes where You send it so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence so will I
If the sum of all our praises still falls shy
Then we’ll sing again a hundred billion times
God of salvation
You chased down my heart
Through all of my failure and pride
On a hill You created
The light of the world
Abandoned in darkness to die
And as You speak
A hundred billion failures disappear
Where You lost Your life so I could find it here
If You left the grave behind You so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You’ve done
Every part designed in a work of art called love
If You gladly chose surrender so will I
I can see Your heart
Eight billion different ways
Every precious one a child You died to save
If You gave Your life to love them so will I
Like You would again a hundred billion times
But what measure could amount to Your desire
You’re the One who never leaves the one behind
Not every open door is from God. But the door that God opens cannot be closed.
It all started with this song.
I was praying about my career decision when God dropped the song in my mind. Listen to it, he said. I listened. Somewhere along letting the lyrics sink in I had decided that i wanted to live for a purpose bigger than myself, to live for Christ.
I had been deliberating much on the meaning of life during that period of time and i couldn't help but to conclude that everything is meaningless because the world will one day fade away. There is only one that thing has an impact through eternity: the lives that we help save and/or the lives that we help change. Nothing else has lasting significance.
Even so, going into full time ministry is not easy. I'll have to let go of the glitz and glam that the world offers. I won't have status. I won't have standing. I won't have anything to brag when relatives ask me what am i doing for a living. I won't be part of my friends who will achieve success in the world and live their jet-setter lifestyle. Can i really live such a life? Do i really want to?
The only thing I want in life
is to be known for loving Christ
To build His church, to love His bride
And make His name known far and wide
He is all my soul will prize
Regardless of the joy or trial
When agonizing questions rise
In Jesus all my hope abides
It is not fame that I desire Nor stature in my brother's eye I pray it's said about my life That I lived more to build Your name than mine
For this cause I live
For this cause I'd die
I surrender all
For the cause of Christ
All I once held dear
I will leave behind
For my joy is this
Oh the cause of Christ
As my thoughts went array, the lyrics flooded my mind. The final stanza of the song totally did me in. My heart was ravished. And that day, in that small corner of the church, i decided that i wanted to work at Thirst. Yes God, this is the most meaningful job i can have for now. I will do it. In tears, i ended the prayer.
I was so sure. But for the next few months, it was a battlefield.
I tried to hint to my colleagues my interest in working at Thir.st. Coincidentally, it was during this period of time when a few of them were praying for God to send someone with specific qualities to help them with the workload. And because of a team building event, they realised i was a perfect fit. As one of them exclaimed, "OH MY GOSH. We have been praying for God to send an AE and she's been under our noses all these time! God answered our prayers even before we prayed them!"
Then, I got offered a position.
This was when I started getting cold feet.
A few friends did come up to ask if I would be continuing at Thir.st after graduation. At times, inspired by people's encouragement and the emotional high, my heart soars towards a flipping 'yes'. I go into lengthy description of how God had divinely orchestrated the journey for me and people respond with applause and approval. They affirm me for living my life for Christ. A pat on the shoulder, an encouraging smile, a reassuring nod. But then, there are times i feel like screaming to them, it's not as easy as you think it is! Why don't you try being in my shoes? Why don't you try dying to self for God? Because what they don't know is what comes after the the cheering crowd disperses, when the spotlight is shut off and the audience is gone and I'm left alone on an abandoned, dark, eerily silent stage. Is this what I want? Will I regret this decision? What if, what if, what if...? Doubts creep in and I slowly sink into a sea of 'no's.
I wanna pursue Christ, I wanna place him first, I wanna give him all that I have. It sounds beautiful and noble. But it's a lofty idea and in reality, so difficult. And my biggest problem is this: I am too convicted to say no, yet too afraid to say yes.
That is the worse place to be. And in between this chasm I oscillate back and forth, back and forth...
I know exactly what my 'yes' means. It's a yes to the killing of my personal desires. It's a yes to choose Jesus again and again in this area of my life. It's a yes to not use the talents that God has given me to pursue my own dreams but to use what he has given to pursue his. And I feel like I'm so young. Too young. Too young to be giving up my life for Christ. Too young to be giving up my inclinations. Too young to be giving up my ambitions. My calling seems less and less in the marketplace as the days pass and what frightens me the most is that my decision today is really more of an indicator of my response in the future. Why can't I pursue my own goals and serve God at the serve time? Why can't i be successful in the world's eyes and still be faithful in God's? Why must they be mutually exclusive in my case?
Why me, God, why me?
And slowly, I wasn't just swinging. I plunged into the deep end of despising my own destiny.
Down,
down,
down, i fell.
I was Esau before i knew it. I suddenly knew how it feels like to despise one's own calling. But because i know how the story ended, i am also aware of how scary the consequences can be. Esau could have been part of Jesus' direct lineage but because he forfeited his birthright, he also forfeited the glory that God had planned for him.
I knew what saying yes to God meant. But in that pit, God showed me what saying 'no' to Him entailed. As a friend puts it, "We always count the cost of saying yes to God. But have we ever counted the cost of saying no to Him?"
Have we ever counted the cost of saying no to Him?
Then, earlier this month, Thir.st pushed forth stories of individuals (1, 2) who gave up their careers to pursue full time ministry. Internally, we called the series "Fools for Christ" because it was planned to come out during April's Fools and it is silly and crazy in the eyes of the world to reject high paying jobs to do charity work for a living instead.
One story really hit home for me. I completely understand the emotional struggles that the author went through during his decision making process. I resonated with the issue of comparison, the issue of defining success, the issue of cost benefit analysis, the issue of wanting to pursue one's own ambitions not aligned to God's will but above all, i identified with this sentence of his: "Deep inside, I knew that I could not serve God part-time."
He ended up responding to God's call. Part of his job scope included clearing pig's dung for the villagers in the morning. An uni grad just like you and me. Can you even imagine?
When i read the article, i asked myself, how did he do it?
You may also be thinking, how did i eventually do it?
I dont know, i dont know. All i know is that I couldn't refuse God.
I tried. I really, really tried. I attended career fairs. I signed up for companies' workshops. I even tailored my cover letter and resume, ready to send it out. But i just couldn't do it. I couldn't will my heart to be engaged while talking to potential bosses. I couldn't will myself to attend the workshops even though I had walked all the way to the venue. I couldn't will my fingers to hit the send button. Just that one step, i told myself every single time, just one step. But i couldn't. So i turned away. Every. Single. Time.
The night i made my decision, i was lying on my bed with a mind filled with trepidation. Then God brought to me a verse.
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked (Psalm 84:10)
In other words, I would rather serve as a lowly servant in the middle of God's will than to be a high flyer outside of it.
I'm not demeaning Christians who work in the marketplace. The point is not the physical location. The point is God's personal call for your life. And I know it can be difficult. There were times i questioned if going into Thir.st would be a good decision for myself. What if i could be happier elsewhere? What if i regret my decision? But the God who created me knows me best. He was the one who gave me my personality. He was the one who furnished me with my gifting. He was the one who moulded my character. He knows what sort of work fits and satisfies me the best. Why? Because He knows me through and through. We each have a specific destiny not because God wants to derail us from what we enjoy but because He knows best.
He knows best.
As that realisation sunk in, I slowly let go of all the excuses - no, they were security plans - I had been making and clinging to. A rush of relief washed over me because I now know what it means when God says He is the one who clothes the flowers, the one who feeds the birds.
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap; they have no storehouse or barn, yet God feeds them... Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these (Luke 12:24, 27)
Another colleague of mine wrote a fantastic account of how God roped her into Thir.st as well. It's a beautiful, beautiful story - one that never fails to draw tears from my eyes because God is simply too amazing. Check it out here.
I've also compiled a short list of songs that encouraged me during the decision making process. Wherever you have been called to, I hope this softens your heart. Because if your heart is truly soft towards God, you can never say no. You may deliberate. You may delay your response. But you can never say no.
I secretly like to watch people worship during worship.
It started a few years ago at a church conference. Back then, I was all about singing from the top of my lungs and throwing myself into a passionate frenzy for God. While in the midst of bellowing the lyrics, I heard God said to me to stop singing.
I stopped and opened my eyes.
And for the first time I really saw how people worship. I mean, i've seen the scene before but i had never really taken a good look at it. Hands were raised, faces were lit. And that guy right there? That prideful guy? Even he was surrendering to God in worship.
It was such an amazing sight.
It felt like a glimpse of heaven. It reminded me that when we come face to face with God, even the most powerful/successful/prideful person can't help to bow down like Moses who met God in the mountains; Job, in the whirlwind; and John, his dreams.
I also heard the sound of an united body of Christ singing. When the worship leaders pull their mike away from their mouths and all you here is just the voices of the entire church singing their love song to God... that moment is just wow.
During KI, there was this old grandpa who was wheeled in by an usher. After helping him out from his wheelchair and onto his seat, I overheard the usher saying, "I'll be right here if you need anything." And he really stayed beside the grandpa throughout the entire service. I thought to myself, "Wow this guy is seriously old, man." When the worship started, the grandpa stood up. One song. Another song. Then another song. Song after song, he remained standing.
He was motionless at first. I guess when you're old, you don't have the energy to keep up with the upbeat worship songs that the crowd favours. The grandpa probably didn't even know the songs. But when the climax came, I saw him lifting his hands and mouthing the lyrics.
He, too, was belting out his own melodies to God.
And finally, when worship drew to an end, he clapped and then took his seat.
My face were stained with tears by then - not because the worship songs moved me - but because the grandpa's worship unto God had touched me.
On another occasion, I witnessed this lady who worshipped in sign language. I was mesmerised. Half the time, my eyes trailed from the lyrics on screen to watching her worship. The thing with expressing emotions with the body is it feels so free and uninhibited - which is also why I enjoy watching people breaking out in dance during worship as well. The entire body is simply thrown into responding to God's presence. The lady's worship climaxed when she prostrated herself with her upturned palms and her face buried under the ground. It was an act of complete adoration and surrender and reverential fear.
She gave herself entirely.
I wonder how many of us worship like that with our words. I wonder if it's even possible to express to that extent with words. There's something beautiful about worshipping with actions. It's a full body commitment.
Another thing that i've learnt during KI is to dispense more hugs and kisses. We can be so quick to admonish that our correction drums out the reason why we are doing it in the first place - out of love. And sometimes a touch can convey what a thousand words cannot.
Also, my favourite song from KI and for the season:
Can we just take a moment and appreciate how well written this song is? Sometimes we take salvation for granted that we begin to momentarily lose sight of grace. Then there are times we think we can do without Him so we begin to let Jesus slip our minds. Yet what is life without Him? Nothing. May i never go through a day thinking i can make it on my own; thinking that i don't need You. I want to be conscious of You every single second. Salvation may be once off but sanctification is a daily process. Saviour, please keep saving me.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
The best part about ending FYP is this: that I have lots of time to simply introspect and worship God without constraint. Having alone time really comforts and soothes my soul 😌 If only I had all the time in the world, i would just lay on my bed the entire day and sink myself in the abyss of worship songs (preferably Audrey Assad's).
Side note, i have been a blessed recipient of care and concern throughout my FYP so a big thank you to those who have given me great support. I am really thankful 🙆🏻💕
I will be back with more substantial content, once I get my mind sorted out. I need to realign myself. Jesus, i'm coming for yooOooOoOOoooOooOouuu ❤️️❤️❤️️
I had a lunchtime conversation with my friends the other day. Well, they had the conversation. I merely sat and listened to them talk.
They were talking about depression. They were talking about how they found life meaningless.
"Sometimes I wish I wasn't a nerd," one commented. "Life would be so much easier. Just look at who are the ones who are suffering from mental illnesses. They are the intelligent ones. Half of the people in IMH have higher IQs than the average person."
It is indeed a privilege to be able to reflect about deep questions. Yet at the same time, it really drains a lot out of the person. Because eventually you'll reach the conclusion that life on earth is indeed... meaningless.
I often think back to the times when I was not a believer. What the heck did I do with my life? It was really just a series of living day after day. Eat. School. Play. Sleep. Repeat. I did not realise it back then but I see it now. Everyday was just a cycle of patterns. There was no meaning, no end to the things I was doing.
And then I look at myself now. It's still the same. It's not as if my efforts won't go to futile after I become Christian. It will. The world will end. I will cease to exist. So why do I work so hard for? Why am I still alive? Honestly it's so much easier being a dead body than to live. And it is not that I can't find joy on earth. There are many things i love and derive happiness from. But the soul still remains insatiable.
The topic of life and death is morbid and people tend to avoid it because it makes them uncomfortable. It is uncomfortable because the end conclusion is whatever that's on earth cannot satisfy us to the fullest. And it is scary to admit that because it's akin to believing that there's no cure to our existential problem. Why am I here? What am I here for? What is the meaning of my existence? If nothing in this world can offer me the solution, then where do I turn to?
But while no one likes to talk about this, I'm sure we have all ponder about it once in a while. Everyone is searching for a life purpose, some point or another. I actually think it's healthy to think about about such stuff. A random bunch of molecules and cells gelled together wouldn't wonder about such philosophical questions. But we are more than a bunch of atoms. And God has set eternity in our hearts. We were made to yearn for something more - something greater than what this world can offer - because the point of our existence resides not in the earth but somewhere else. I love how CS Lewis puts it:
We are all searching. But what puts me at ease is that I know the God of all eternity and hope and because of this, I have also found the meaning of life; the courage of the stars.
To die may be a gain, but to live is always Christ.
I have been trying to start a new habit: To take the time out to jot my thoughts down while commuting. There are 2 main reasons for doing this. Practically, i need to practice how to form my thoughts into words in a more efficient manner. I find that i am taking too long to write an article because it's difficult for me to articulate what's going on in my head out loud. I also want to be more conscious of what i'm going through and what God is trying to teach me through my daily experiences. For too long, i have been zoning out whenever i have the free time (usually while commuting) because life often requires me to alert and on task and im just like so done. Reflection is then important because it makes sure i don't just go through the motion of doing life without fully living it.
The problem is, i am still taking quite some time to channel out my thoughts and feelings. My reflections are, more often than not, half-written and i get lazy to go back and edit it. And so i have a few drafts stored in my hand phone. I was just looking through it and i realised that there has been a consistent message throughout the month unbeknownst to me at the point of writing. Gonna work at it to push them out on this platform.
This post is pretty meaningless. To make up for it, here is my personal curation of Christmas songs and (i know this isn't Christmas-y but it's too addictive help!!) a Chinese song that i've been listening to as i work. Enjoy!
ㄧ个人的时候 在陌生的街头 抬头看着繁星夜垂的天空
I know I know 地球另一端有你陪我
谢谢你鼓励我 勇气是你给我 让我迈开脚步一起往前走
I know I know 你是我的OK绷 在每一个时候
I wonder if holidays can be divinely planned. I always seem to have a getaway planned every time things turn rough so that i can escape from reality and people for a few days. The past week has been overwhelming. So many new information, so many new crisis, so many new challenges. Yet, there always seem to be something for me to do, to coordinate, to occupy my mind and thus I have been ignoring my thoughts and emotions and it's still all inside of me now, suppressed and messy.
I am going to make sure that I find time to seek God and attend to myself in my upcoming family trip. I already have a list of items that i need to reflect, sort out and ask God to help me make sense of LOL. Praying that i will come back feeling refreshed and my burdens lifted up to God.
On a side note, thank God for Audrey Assad's voice 😍.
There once lived a great prophet named Elisha. The king of Aram sent his soldiers to capture him. Overnight, the army surrounded the city. When Elisha's servant saw what happened the next morning, he was alarmed. But Elisha looked at him and said, "Do not worry. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them," He prayed to the Lord to open the eyes of the servant, that he may see what was really happening. The servants eyes were opened. He saw horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. The army of God was with them.
It is so easy to look at the natural and despair. But a bad place to be is the best place where God can work His miracles. Lord, open my eyes of little faith so that i shall walk by faith and not by sight!
There is a hill I cherish
Where stood a precious tree
The emblem of salvation
The gift of Calvary
How is it I should profit
While He is crucified
Yet as His life was taken
So I was granted mine
My wealth is in the cross
There’s nothing more I want
Than just to know His love
My heart is set on Christ
And I will count all else as loss
The greatest of my crowns
Mean nothing to me now
For I counted up the cost
And all my wealth is in the cross
I will not boast in riches
I have no pride in gold
But I will boast in Jesus
And in His Name alone
And when I stand in glory
My crowns before the Lord
Let this be my confession
My wealth is in the cross
It felt good when Thursday drew to an end because it means my week is officially over! This week has been a long and emotionally vexing week. I remember there was this particular day where i felt so stressed out that i kept praying for the bus to come so i could get home asap and fall into a deep sleep and not think about anything. I am so glad that the tough part is over and i can enjoy my weekend now :) Thank God for tiding me through and for friends who listened to my (partial) rantings haha.
Had an outreach session yesterday during LG. Street evangelism is something that i always dread, and when i had to do it, something i want to get it over and done with. But God reminded me what outreach was all about - ministering and meeting people at where they are. And when i finally understood this point, it went beyond giving people invitations and became an avenue where i can listen to their needs and pray for them. And yes, we managed (my team at least) to pray for almost everyone that we came across! It feels great to be able to bless someone :D
I had a great experience yesterday not because i managed to give out invites but because i felt that i was able to be who Jesus is to me to them.
Also, i recently realised that our church has a spotify playlist for all the songs sang in the month!! I am listening to it right now and God is sending me happy vibes through the songs because it keeps playing praise songs!! I am not even kidding. It is on shuffle mode but upbeat songs keep flooding in. Hehe. Feeling blessed and loved ^^ Here are two oldies but goodies and definitely a great reminder of who God is to me through this week! :) Have a blessed week ahead everyone!
Song no. 1: You Are Good
I want to scream it out
From every mountain top
Your goodness knows no bounds
Your goodness never stops
Your mercy follows me
Your kindness fills my life
Your love amazes me
I sing because You are good
And I dance because You are good
And I shout because You are good
You are good to me to me
Nothing and no one comes
Anywhere close to You
The earth and oceans deep
Only reflect this truth
And in my darkest night
You shine as bright as day
Your love amazes me
With a cry of praise my heart will proclaim
You are good You are good
In the sun or rain my life celebrates
You are good You are good
Song no. 2: Promises
Singin' all your promises wont let go of me
Singin' all your promises wont let go of me
Singin' all your promises wont let go of me
Singin' all your promises wont let go of me
I surrendered my life to your ways
I have learned what it means to obey
Jesus my heart has been changed by you
I am walking the path you have made
I am seeking the truth every day
Jesus my heart has been changed by you
I couldn't walk away if I tried
'Cause your love is better than life
Now the sun's shining bright
And it just wont set
'Cause your love is a light and it lights my step
My heart is amazed every day to the next
Your joy overtakes and I can't forget about it

A few weeks ago, me and my friends were randomly talking about abortion. At the same time, I had been playing the above song throughout that week but it was only after the discussion that i discovered the inspiration behind the song.
The story behind "Lily's Song" ❤
After being unable to write much for a while I received a message from a couple who had lost their little girl at 7 months in the womb. They shared how they would sing the song "Praise the Lord" over her and when she was born dance with her to it. I sobbed as I read their story, as a parent myself I know so many hopes and dreams are wrapped up in each child. Although there are many situations and stories, this one interrupted my life for months. I felt like God gave me a glimpse into how much weight this small human carried and the calling that was on her, her worth far surpassed what I could see or know. God cares more than I ever thought possible about each one of us. I was taught so much by someone so small, our stories echo into eternity and so does our significance.❤
