Citizenship and Home

The best part of travelling is not the flight nor the destination nor the food nor anything else. The best part of traveling is coming back home.

It may be less apparent when you're driving from customs to customs but when you are at the airport and everyone else is queuing to pass the immigration and you can just head towards the fingerprint detection section and bypass everyone else and then the machine screens "Welcome home"... its just... wow. Coming back to Singapore is what i look forward to every time i travel. Nothing beats that sense of relief because you know that you are a citizen of this nation. You belong here. You are the priority and you're entitled to the privileges here.

Queer thing citizenship is. It is but a social construct and yet it can invoke such emotions. I may have arrived from exploring the Amazon, trekking through the Alps, witnessing the northern lights, jetting through cosmopolitan cities enjoying the high life, seeing sights beyond my wildest imagination, but still nothing beats the sense of belonging. The sense of home.

The best part of traveling is returning.

And i can't imagine how it would feel like when i finally return back Home.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
Philippians 3:20
