Cafe: Wheeler's Yard and Waffle Slayer

Wheeler's Yard has been on my to-go-cafes list for a long, long time. Instragrammers have been flooding my feed with its iconic blue doors. From the outside, it completely blends in with the many other neighbouring warehouses. I almost walked by it without knowing! But the magic begins when you stepped into the cafe.

This cafe has a HUGE open area. It makes me so happy because you get the feeling that you can just run free. I am sick of cramped little cafes. As quaint as they are, i dont want to be elbowed and kneed by strangers. Wheeler's Yard even has an air-conditioned area if Singapore's weather is too hot for you to take. We managed to get the sofa seats and coupled with the homely atmosphere and the huge amount of space, it is literally so comfortable that we refused to move on to our location until hours later. Located right at the middle of HDB flats and warehouses, it is a perfect getaway from the outside world. I feel disenchanted when i walked out of Wheeler's Yard :(

Anyway, i think the menu is only a meh. You've got your standard burgers, coffees, all-day breakfast (which the reviews were not very appealing). There is nothing special that would make me want to come back for their food (their fries are pretty good though). But their ambience? Now, that's a different thing.

Headed to Waffle Slayer next. They are known for having really interesting waffles.

1. Banana Brulee Buttermilk Waffle with Walnut Crunch & Vanilla Ice Cream
2. Squid Ink Waffles with Blueberry Ice Cream (it was the special of the day)

I would say that the waffles itself are pretty normal. Yes, even the squid ink doesnt taste much different from a standard waffle. However, i really enjoyed the way they complimented and arranged their waffles with the toppings, both aesthetic and taste wise.

Not bad, i would say.

I'm really glad that Shaf is back. Its been so long since ive talked to her. Sure, we have whatsapp and stuff but i dont connect well using technological communication. I feel detached from the person im talking to and it just does not work for me. The three of us took many pretty photos together and we had so much fun playing charades. It was a Sunday well-spent.

Have a good Monday ahead!
